摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bidirectional optical communication system having high light utilization efficiency. SOLUTION: The system has: a mirror body 4 which is arranged at a position opposing the end face of an optical fiber 7, formed outside with a reflection area 10 tilted so as to face the center of and toward the end face of the optical fiber 7, and also formed inside with a passing section 11 for making a signal light pass through that is emitted from the end face of the optical fiber 7; a light receiving element 6 which is arranged at a position for receiving the signal light emitted from the end face of the optical fiber 7 and passed through the passing section 11; and a light emitting element 5 which is arranged at a position where the emitted signal light, reflected on the reflection area 10 of the mirror body 4, enters the end face of the optical fiber 7. The signal light emitted from the light emitting element 5 is reflected on the reflection area 10, made incident to the optical fiber 7 from its end face, while the signal light emitted from the end face of the optical fiber 7 is passed through the passing section 11 and received by the light receiving element 6. Therefore, no signal light transmitted/received is shielded by the mirror body 4, thereby enabling bidirectional optical communication to be performed with high light utilization efficiency.
