It is possible to provide an automatic tracking device capable of tracking a moving object even if the moving object being tracked is concealed temporarily by an obstacle such as a column, by judging it and resuming the tracking when the moving object appears again. The automatic tracking device includes: an object extraction section (105) for extracting a region of a moving object from a plurality of images picked up at different times and successively sent from an image pickup device; an object tracking section (106) for tracking the region of the moving object extracted by the object extraction section (105); and a concealment generation detection section (107) for detecting a concealing object which conceals the moving object being tracked by the object tracking section (106).
