<p>The invention relates to the treatment of anthelmintic infections in animals, and more particularly to compositions that are effective against parasites that are resistant to a wide variety of drug treatments. In a first aspect, the invention provides a synergistic anthelmintically effective composition consisting of at least one compound selected from each of the following groups: macrocylic lactones, benzimidazoles, salicylanilides and imidazothiazoles and a therapeutically acceptable carrier. In a second aspect, the invention provides a method for treating parasitic infections in an animal, comprising administering to the animal, a synergistic anthelmintically effective amount of a composition which consists of at least one compound selected from each of the following groups: macrocylic lactones, benzimidazoles, salicylanilides and imidazothiazoles and a therapeutically acceptable carrier. In a third aspect, the invention provides the use of a synergistic anthelmintically effective amount of a composition which consists of at least one compound selected from each of the following groups: macrocylic lactones, benzimidazoles, salicylanilides and imidazothiazoles and a therapeutically acceptable carrier in the treatment of a parasitic infection in an animal.</p> |
