PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the confidentiality of a confidentially received document and to enhance the reliability while keeping a backup function of data.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus disclosed herein includes: a facsimile communication means for performing facsimile communication; a first storage means disabling an access from a network; a second storage means for enabling an access from the network; a backup means for storing received document data to the first storage means and copying the data to the second storage means; a discrimination means for discriminating whether or not the received document data are data of a confidential document; and a control means for controlling the backup means so as to place a limit on copying of the received document data to the second storage means when the discrimination means indicates that the document data are the data of the confidential document.
