<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar coater and an application method capable of effectively preventing uneven wear of a bar and a backup member even when a coating liquid is applied to a band shape body with high hardness. <P>SOLUTION: The bar coater is provided with the bar applying the coating liquid to the band shape body conveyed in a specified direction and the backup member supporting the bar from the lower side. Therein, a backup surface supporting the bar in the backup member is formed as a circular groove and the backup surface in the backup member and the bar have such straightness and roundness that a specified relation is held between the sum ΔL of the straightness and roundness of the backup surface and the straightness and roundness of the bar versus the pressurizing force T operating to the bar from the band shape body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
