PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcomputer for which harmony between power consumption and operation speed is controlled according to the load on the microcomputer.

SOLUTION: This microcomputer has a first circuit VCLK1 for receiving an operation mode signal 503 to output a clock signal 504 having a frequency according to the operation mode signal; a second circuit OSC1 for outputting a monitor signal S1 having a predetermined frequency; and a control circuit CNT1 for receiving the clock signal and the monitor signal to output a control signal to a logic circuit and the second circuit. The operation mode signal is determined according to the load of the microcomputer.
