PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device improved in a property for protecting a passenger's body in the condition that a force limiter is operated when quickly decelerating a vehicle, and facilitated in installation thereof in a vehicle. SOLUTION: In this seat belt device 10, when a pre-tensioner 34 quickly decelerates a vehicle, a winding shaft 36 is rotated around the center axis in a direction expressed with an arrow CCW, and a webbing 12 is tightly brought in contact with a body of a passenger to improve the protecting property. Furthermore, since the tensile force is continuously applied to the webbing 12, an outside wrap belt 50 fastens an inside wrap belt 48 in the winding shaft 36 to limit sliding of the webbing 12 in relation to the winding shaft 36. Even in the condition that the force limiter of a retractor 14 is operated, a waist part of the passenger is surely bound by the wrap belt 50. Since the retractor 14 and the pre-tensioner 34 are separately provided, they are easily installed in a vehicle 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
