The tree hinge (1) has an upper plate (101) and a lower plate (103) fitted to the tree trunk (2) so that the rotary hinge (102) between the 2 plates coincides with a notch cut in the trunk. The upper plate is folded down to extend at right angles to the tree trunk and has a target device indicating the falling direction of the felled tree using a cord (4) or a levelling device.
