PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multipolar magnet generator for an internal combustion engine which can prevent an ignition power source coil from being burnt due to short circuiting at an ignition time. SOLUTION: The multipolar magnet generator for the internal combustion engine includes a magnet rotor 1 composed by mounting magnets M1 to M16 at a flywheel 4, a stator 2 composed by winding the ignition power source coil W1 and armature coils W2 to W24 on the toothed part of an armature core 6, and a pulser 3 for outputting a pulse signal for triggering a thyristor for discharging an ignition capacitor of the ignition unit for the capacitor discharge type internal combustion engine by detecting the edge of the reluctor 4d provided on the outer periphery of the flywheel. When the pulser 3 outputs the pulse signal for triggering the thyristor, the positional relationship between the magnet of the magnet rotor and the reluctor is set so that the center of the pole part of the toothed part T1 on which the ignition power source coil W1 is wound, is opposed to the magnetic neutral position of the magnet rotor.
