PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient way to prevent battery discharge and to provide a power-on reset function, without requiring physical removal of a battery. SOLUTION: A battery connection interrupting device comprises: a battery 100 located inside an enclosure and having a terminal 102; a contact 104; and a shim 110 which can be actuated from outside to the enclosure, such that in a first position of the shim the contact 104 presses against the terminal 102, and in a second position of the shim the shim is inserted between the terminal 102 and the contact 104, breaking an electrical connection between the terminal 102 and the contact 104.
