PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-mounted display having a display part which does not obstruct visual field meaninglessly as far as possible. SOLUTION: An eyepiece optical system forming the picture of a display device 1 on the retina of the eyeball 2 is constituted of a 1st eyepiece 3 and a 2nd eyepiece 4. Wedged space is present between a tangent 7 linking a pupil 6 with the upper or the lower edge surface of the 1st surface 5 of the eyepiece 3, that is, a surface nearest to the eyeball 2, and the end parts of the eyepieces 3 and 4. A case 8 is provided in the space, and the case 8 and the eyepieces 3 and 4 are stuck with an adhesive. The outer edge of the case 8 is set so as not to project to the outside of the tangent 7.
