PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document handling device capable of improving the arrangement of a guide member and a scooping up member with respect to a line connecting a reading position of document with a reading outlet and reducing jitter and frequency of occurrence of longitudinal line. SOLUTION: An end part Q on the downstream side of the guide member 32 and a vertex R of the scooping up member 22 are positioned on line S or in the vicinity of upper and lower parts of the line S with respect to the line S connecting the reading position 20 with a nip of a reading outlet roller 23. The vertex of the scooping up member 22 is drawn close to the guide member 32 to prevent bending of the document, and the document is brought into contact with contact glass 21 to reduce jitter. In the scooping up member 22, a terminal side part 22a forms a gentle upward inclining angle and forms a tip side part 22b on the downstream side in the direction of conveyance at a sharper upward inclining angle than the terminal side, and the tip part side 22b has the vertex R.
