PURPOSE: A drum brake for a vehicle is provided to prevent partial side wear resulting from sectional thermal deformation of a friction part of a drum by friction heat during braking. CONSTITUTION: A drum brake for a vehicle comprises a drum(52) joined to rotate integrally together with a wheel; a shoe installed in the drum; a back plate fixed to a vehicle body to support the shoe; a wheel cylinder installed to the back plate; and a rib(64) formed to the outer peripheral surface of the drum, to reinforce and cool the drum. The shoe is extended in the radial direction. The wheel cylinder presses the shoe on the inner peripheral surface of the drum during braking to apply the brake to the wheel by the friction force of the shoe and the drum. A packing groove(64a) in which a packing is inserted is formed to one end of the drum. The packing groove is spaced apart from the drum in the radial direction, to make the thermal deformation of a friction part of the drum rubbing against the shoe uniform, and the rib is extended in the radial direction at the same distance as the spaced distance of the drum and the packing.
