PURPOSE: A method and a system for authenticating a user in a network access while the user accesses the Internet are provided to recognize a user by associating different authentication protocols with various services, thereby setting PPP/IP connections. CONSTITUTION: A user terminal performs a PPP connection(21). A pre-access request message(31) is capsulated(22). An access controller extracts user identifying information, and transmits the extracted information to an AAA server(23) in a type of a message(33). The controller confirms whether received authentication information is identical with information stored in a DB(24), and extracts a request(35) for accessing service providers to supply the request(35) to the providers(25). The providers initialize a process of retransmitting a message(36) to the controller(26). The controller generates a message(37) by responding to an access request issued by a user, and transmits a response message to IP gateways(27). The IP gateways extract a message from the response message information, and transmit a message(38) including all the extracted information to the user terminal(28).
