<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separate media converter which is capable of making use of an existing electric cable without setting up a new provision even at a location where a wiring provision for installing optical fibers is not available. <P>SOLUTION: A line receiver 13 which receives transmission data sent from a device B, a line driver 12 which sends receiving data to the device B, and an electricity-light conversion circuit 11 which has a function to convert signals outputted from the line receiver 13 to optical signals, convert the optical signals to electric signals, and output the electric signals to the line driver 12 are built in a device A. The devices A and B are connected together with a signal transmission electric cable. The optical fiber 1 is just required to be laid up to the device A, and the device A is installed at a location where the optical fiber 1 is laid without using a special optical wiring provision, including the outdoors, whereby the function of the separate media converter can be realized without changing or supplementing existing equipment so much. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
