PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera in which a processing speed of video signals is accelerated to improve responsiveness of an auto-focus or the like for focusing an optical system of the camera or responsiveness of an auto-iris for controlling a quantity of incident light to the optical system, for example. SOLUTION: The video camera is provided with a status register 43 for changing statuses of bits corresponding to read registers when data are written in external read registers 421-42n in the case of communications between a microcomputer 6 and internal data registers 411-41n, 421-42n of a signal processing part 4 with a digital signal of a plurality of bits as data of one word, and when setting addresses of the external registers from the microcomputer or when performing communications for transferring data to external write registers, the status register 43 can be read from the microcomputer 6 simultaneously with the transfer of the addresses or of the data.
