PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge capable of dealing with ink consumption at a recording head while enhancing the manufacturing yield by decreasing the channel resistance of a negative pressure generating means as much as possible. SOLUTION: The negative pressure generating mechanism has a wall face 6a arranged between an ink containing region and an ink supply opening 5 while having two through holes 10 and 12 for passing ink, and a valve element 20 being applied with the pressure on the ink supply opening side to touch the through hole 10 or separate therefrom. The negative pressure generating mechanism is arranged to supply ink flowing in from the through hole 12 to the ink supply opening 5 through the through hole 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
