PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power feeding device and a power feeding method for a cathode ray tube capable of effectively preventing situations such that a stem base is displaced in an oblique direction when attaching/detaching a feed socket since a stem base and a stem are fixedly bonded with an adhesive and various processings such as withstand voltage processing by attaching the supply socket to the stem base mounted on the outside surface of the stem and by applying voltage to each electrode in a manufacturing process of a cathode ray tube are carried out before the adhesive sufficiently solidifies, that sufficient mechanical strength is not attained since a gap occurs between the stem and the stem base, and that the withstand voltage between stem pins degrades to secure sufficient adhesive strength and withstand voltage. SOLUTION: When the feed socket 31 is detached/attached to the stem pin 22 of the cathode ray tube in which the stem base 23 adhered on the outside surface of the stem 21 with the adhesive 28, elastic force is given from the feed socket 31 side by an elastic body 40 to almost uniformly push the entire surface of the stem base 23 in a direction of the stem 21.
