PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a single pass self-servo writing process capable of realizing the desired number of tracks on a disk drive for reducing test time and the number of servo writing devices. SOLUTION: A system and a process for manufacturing a magnetic storage device capable of performing a single pass self-servo writing are provided. A plurality of heads are selected in the classification based on the near magnetic width of at least one head (86). Only a head of single classification is mounted on an individual disk drive system (152). A track overlap value for the near magnetic width of a typical head of one classification is calculated as a actual measurement value if possible (114).
