PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, equipped with an easy-to-use luminance adjusting mechanism which temporarily switches display luminance from automatically adjusted luminance to manually adjusted luminance or desired optimum luminance matching display contents and has superior operability and functionality, and also to provide a display luminance control method. SOLUTION: A CPU 11 sets luminance automatic adjustment data (B) or luminance manual adjustment data (BCONT) as luminance setting data (C) in a luminance control part 12a according to the value of luminance automatic adjustment flag (Fa) in a memory 13.
