PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug energization control device and a glow plug energization control method capable of increasing the startability of an engine by preventing the falling of a heater temperature. SOLUTION: This glow plug energization control device 101 comprises a means for controlling the energization of a glow plug so that a sheath heater 2 can be rapidly heated when a key switch KSW is set to ON, a means for controlling the energization of the glow plug so that the falling of the temperature of the sheath heater 2 can be prevented, a means for controlling the energization so that the falling of the temperature of the sheath heater 2 can be prevented during cranking time when the key switch KSW is set to START and cranking is started, and a means for controlling the energization so that the sheath heater 2 can be maintained at a second target temperature.
