PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably maintain the motion characteristics of an armature shaft by blocking the rotation of an armature disk and an armature shaft of an electromagnetic actuator without recourse to the guide. SOLUTION: The rotation of the end 32b of a left-handed coil spring 32 and the end 34b of a right-handed coil spring 34 are blocked in an upper retainer 28 by rotation blocking portions 40a and 42a. This is the same for a spring seat placed opposite to the upper retainer 28. Thus, the left and right rotation of the upper retainer 28 is blocked not by a guide but by the spring seat via a spring member 30. The rotation of an armature shaft 22a and an armature disk connected to the upper retainer 28 is therefore also blocked without recourse to the guide. This prevents a change in friction on peripheral members to keep electromagnetic force transmission, thereby suitably maintaining the motion characteristics of the armature shaft.
