Unit for determining the ease of driving over ground surfaces comprises a disk-shaped test body (1) that measures shear forces applied by vegetation and the top layer of the ground. The disk body is prevented from penetrating too deeply into the ground by a support element (6). The grain size of the ground is measured using acoustic vibration, ground moisture by measuring conductivity and the type and density of surface vegetation using an optical barrier.
