The guide system comprises a profiled section (1) having in several different planes (7, 8) socket areas (7',8') to house the pallet (4) and chain rollers (5) at the same time. The pallet rollers are provided on a lower vertical plane (7) and the chain rollers (5) on an upper vertical plane (8) in the transport region of the escalator. The profile is preferably a cold rolled profile.
