PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine structure which is used for a sensor using a localized plasmon resonance and detects a slight change in refractive index or physical property of a sample. SOLUTION: The fine structure is produced by preparing a layered substrate 12 which is composed of, e.g., alumina prepared by anodic oxidation and has a plurality of micropores 12a formed on its one surface, filling the micropores 12a with metal microparticles 13, and forming a metallic thin film 14 on the periphery of the micropores 12a on the one surface in such a state that the distance between the metal microparticle 13 and the thin film 14 is almost the same as or smaller than the diameter of the metal microparticle 13.
