<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immobilized enzyme membrane that has exact and prompt responsiveness and excellent function stability for a long period of time with retention of the activity of this identifying element by uniformly and stably fixing an enzyme as an identifying element and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing an immobilized enzyme membrane comprises the following three steps: the first step where a silane coupling agent bearing polar functional groups, e.g., an S atom or an N atom on the terminus is allowed to react with a carbon substrate bearing hydroxy groups and carboxy groups on the surface of the substrate thereby forming a monomolecular layer through the siloxane bonds; the second step where metal atoms are arranged near the polar functional groups in a solution including metal atoms; and the third steps where the product from the second step is soaked with a solution including an enzyme as an identifying element whereby the enzyme is arranged near the metal element by the mutual action of the enzyme with the metal element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
