PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cemented carbide having excellent chipping-off resistance and wear resistance and suitably used for a rotary tool having excellent breakage resistance. SOLUTION: In the cemented carbide 1, WC particles 2 of≤0.5μm average particle size are bonded together with a binding phase 5 primarily comprising iron-group metal, and Ta and Cr are contained. In the transmission electron microscopic observation of the cemented carbide 1, the WC particles 2 have a nearly polygonal shape, and further, particles 7 having≥50 nm radius of curvature of two corner parts with respect to a major axis and showing roundness comprise≥50 area% of the whole particles 2.
