PURPOSE: A drum brake for a vehicle is provided to reduce thermal deformation by reducing temperature gradient between the inside and outside of a friction part of a drum where a rib is not formed. CONSTITUTION: A drum brake for a vehicle comprises a drum(52), a shoe, a back plate, a wheel cylinder, and a rib(60). The drum is combined to rotate integrally together with a wheel. The shoe is installed inside the drum and is extended in the radial direction. The back plate supports the shoe and the back plate is fixed to a vehicle body. The wheel cylinder is installed to the back plate and the wheel cylinder presses the shoe on the inner peripheral surface of the drum during braking to make the brake applied to the wheel by the friction force of the shoe and the drum. The rib is formed to the outer peripheral surface of the drum, to reinforce and cool the drum. A packing groove(60a) in which a packing is inserted is formed to one end of the drum. In a circumferential part(53) of the drum spaced apart from the shoe in the radial, a part(53b) where the rib is not formed is thinner than a part(53a) where the rib is formed.
