PURPOSE: Provided are a method of operating a fuel cell by oscillating a gas stream therein, thereby improving the performance of fuel cell, and an apparatus for generating electricity including a fluid flow oscillator operatively connected to a fluid stream, where the fluid stream is in communication with the fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of supplying a gas stream (114,118) to a fuel cell (104); and oscillating the gas stream. The apparatus comprises the fuel cell, the gas supply in fluid communication with the fuel cell; and an oscillator (130) operatively connected to the gas supply for oscillating the gas supply.
