PURPOSE: An apparatus for monitoring performance items in a mobile communication system, and a method thereof are provided to efficiently manage networks by grasping only networks having a trouble. CONSTITUTION: A user interface sets up performance items to be monitored and threshold values of the performance items(710). The user interface transmits the set parameters and threshold values to a performance item threshold value storing unit(712). The performance item threshold value storing unit transmits the performance items to be monitored and a measurement period of each item to a network element(714). The network element measures a mean value of the performance item(716). The network element transmits the mean value to the performance item threshold value storing unit(718). The performance item threshold value storing unit compares the mean value with the threshold value transmitted from the user interface(720). If the mean value exceeds the threshold value, the performance item threshold value storing unit transmits the corresponding performance item to the user interface(722). The user interface confirms information related to the transmitted performance item, and takes necessary measures(724).
