PURPOSE: A PVR(Personal Video Recorder) digital broadcasting receiver is provided to enable a user to set a period while receiving EPG data to update reserved recording information, and to turn on system power during the set period, thereby saving power. CONSTITUTION: A tuner and demodulator(100) receives/demodulates a broadcasting stream including EPG data for a selected channel. A demultiplexer(110) separates the broadcasting stream into audio/video/data streams. A decoder(120) decodes the audio/video streams. A memory(130) stores the audio/video streams, reserved recording information, and the EPG data. A CPU(140) controls the tuner and demodulator(100), the demultiplexer(110), the decoder(120), and the memory(130), generates a reserved recording information update event and a reserved recording event, and performs updating/reserved-recording processes.
