PURPOSE: A horizontal compressor is provided to prolong the life span of the compressor and enhance reliability of the compressor, by arranging a differential-pressure separation plate between a compression part and a drive part, and to reduce the manufacturing cost and the length of the assembling process by forming the differential-pressure separation plate as a body with a muffler. CONSTITUTION: A horizontal compressor comprises a casing(2), a drive part(4), a compression part(6), a differential-pressure separation plate(8), and a lubricating part. A suction pipe(14) for the inflow of a refrigerant and a discharge pipe(16) for the outflow of the refrigerant are each connected to the casing. The drive part is built in a side of the casing, to produce rotational force. The compression part is built in the other side of the casing. The compression part compresses the refrigerant by the driving force produced from the drive part. The differential-pressure separation plate divides the inside of the casing into a high-pressure chamber(42) and a low-pressure chamber(44), to keep the oil level of the high-pressure chamber higher than the oil level of the low-pressure chamber. The lubricating part supplies oil stored in the high-pressure chamber to each sliding part of the inside of the compressor and returns the oil, finishing the lubrication action, to the high-pressure chamber from the low-pressure chamber.
