PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer which can form images of a stable image quality even when kinds and sizes of recording media are different. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus has a recording head which includes a heating member for heating ink and a temperature sensor for detecting a temperature of the ink. The recording head discharges the ink heated by the heating member to the recording medium. The inkjet recording apparatus is equipped with a platen which has a plurality of vent holes arranged in arrays to correspond to the recording medium of an image formable maximum size. The platen supports the recording medium to be opposed to a discharge face of the recording head. Moreover, the inkjet recording apparatus has a suction device for sucking the recording medium on the platen via the platen by using the vent holes as a channel, a flow rate sensor for detecting a suction flow rate by the suction device, and a control part for controlling a heating temperature of the heating member on the basis of the detected result of the flow rate sensor and temperature sensor.
