TAPE MANAGEMENT METHOD AND SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a transfer time when using a virtual tape volume by another computer. SOLUTION: A system A110 into which a virtual tape device 130 is integrated is connected through a network 140 to a system B120 in a remote place. The virtual tape volume of the system A110 is inputted/outputted between management information 117 of a virtual tape and the file 118 of the virtual tape by a virtual tape transfer processor 111. The file of the virtual tape is copied asynchronously with the system by using a copy function between magnetic disk devices. The tape use task of the system B120 uses the file 128 of the virtual tape as the file of the virtual tape by an input/output request converting part 126. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
