PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor in which the degradation of image quality can be prevented even if the system clock frequency is altered, and to provide its processing method. SOLUTION: The image processor comprises a solid state imaging element, a signal processing section for processing an output from the solid state imaging element based on an inputted system clock signal and delivering an image signal, and a means for informing a user of the frequency of the system clock signal inputted to the signal processing section to the solid state image sensor such that it corresponds to the system clock signal of a plurality of frequencies. When the timing for driving the solid state image sensor is controlled for a variation in system clock frequency informed from the signal processing section, image quality of the image signal can be kept constant even if the system clock frequency is varied.
