PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the circuit size of a digital programmable gain amplifier. SOLUTION: The DPGA1 handles the gain in dB and can set up a desired gain from the sum obtained by using the first preamplifier 10 which can set the gain of a certain power of 2, that is, a multiple of 6, and the post-stage amplifier 20 which can set the gain of 0 dB or 6 dB. The first preamplifier 10 amplifies by shifting the bits since it has the gain of a power of 2. The post-stage amplifier 20 can make the gain close to 0 to 5 dB by combining and adding the gains equal to some of the power of 2 since it has one of the gains 0 to 5 dB.
