A laminated /finned brake or clutch has a number of laminations immersed in a liquid arranged radially between a rotary shaft and a component enclosing the shaft and alternately coupled with the shaft or component. An annular seal (6;7) is arranged axially between each two laminations (3,4; 3,5) and at least reduces or lowers the liquid flow. An independent claim is included for an application of a laminated brake or clutch.
