PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a recovery operation for a nozzle in an ejection-defective condition by a small ink consumption quantity in a short period of time. SOLUTION: This inkjet recorder comprises a plurality of head units 5 each having a plurality of ejection nozzles for ejecting ink, a supply tube 2 for supplying ink in an ink cartridge 1 to a common liquid chamber 13 of a plurality of head units 5, a pressurizing pump 3 provided to the supply tube 2 at the side of the ink cartridge 1, valves 4 each being provided to the supply tube 2 on the branched portion at the side of each head unit 5 and being normally opened, and a detection means 12 for detecting the ejection or non-ejection of the ink at each ejection nozzle. This inkjet recorder is so constituted that clogging in the ejection nozzle is recovered by initiating the pressurizing pump 3 after the valves 4 provided to the upstream portions of the head units 5 except the head units 5 having the ejection nozzle of which the defective ejection of ink is detected when the defective ejection is detected by the detection means 12.
