PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printer which can prevent a positional deviation of a head setting stage cantilevered at a frame with respect to a platen roller even when a drop impact or the like is applied to the thermal transfer printer. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer printer has a cover member 10 supported at an enclosure (not illustrated). The cover member 10 can open and close a cassette insertion opening 1e formed opening at one side plate 1b of a frame 1 of a printer mechanism P. The head setting stage 9 cantilevered at the other side plate 1a has a recess 9d formed in a free end part 9c which projects to the outside from the cassette insertion opening 1e.
