PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply structured and compact actuator latch apparatus for a data storage device. SOLUTION: The actuator latch apparatus is provided with a latch lever 152 turnably installed on a base plate and having a first latch part 154 disposed at one end portion of the latch lever, a spring 156 made of shape memory alloy and connected to the other end portion of the latch lever 152 to turn the latch lever in a predetermined direction, and a second latch part 151 disposed at an end portion of an actuator. When the rotation of a disk is stopped to park the actuator, the latch lever 152 is turned in one direction by the spring 156, so that the first latch lever part 154 interferes with the second latch part 151, thus locking the actuator not to rotate. When the rotation of the disk is started, the latch lever 152 is turned in the other direction by the spring 156, so that the first latching part 154 is separated from the the second latching part 151, thus actuator is rotated.
