LUSTER PIGMENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luster pigment produced by using a flaky titanium dioxide 13 having high weatherability as a base material. SOLUTION: The luster pigment 20 is produced by (S100) forming a titanium oxide layer 12 on the surface of a flaky substrate 10 to form a coated composition and baking the composition at a low temperature (≤700°C), (S102) peeling off the titanium oxide layer 12 in the coated composition from the surface of the flaky substrate 10 to obtain a flaky titanium dioxide 13 as a peeled composition, (S104) forming a coating layer 14 composed of a metal oxide on the surface of the flaky titanium dioxide 13, and (S106) baking the pigment precursor having a coating layer 14 at a high temperature (≥700°C).
