The manufacturing method has the outer and/or inner contour of the shaft (1) machined, e.g. for providing internal hollow spaces (4,5) and external cogs (6,7), before carbonizing and hardening by heating and cooling, e.g. using a hardening oven, the shaft straightened to a high degree of accuracy upon cooling after carbonizing, before the hardening process.
