<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate handling of a large quantity of printed matters. <P>SOLUTION: This printer 1 has a sort mode and a partition paper insertion mode, and when these modes are set, printing is performed, and the printed sheets are sorted per the number of copies. When sorting, the sorting number of copies is previously set to insert the partition paper per the number of copies, and a sorting number of copies detection means 14 detects whether the sorted number of copies reaches the set sorting number of copies or not.
