PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell search method used in a mobile communication system such as a CDMA system. SOLUTION: The cell search method comprises steps for executing one or more identification steps (steps 102, 105 and 108) in order to discriminate the timing and code of a input signal in which over sampling is carried out, and lowering the resolution of the input signal in which over sampling is carried out (steps 101, 104, 107) before the execution of the one or more discrimination steps. The lowering resolution of the input signal in which over sampling is carried out, for example, is made by at least either sample-coupling the input signal or down-sampling.
