PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of preventing dust from entering the device, and loading without scratching the optical disk. SOLUTION: The optical disk device is so constructed as to chuck the optical disk with a turntable 12 and a chucking plate 31 by calculating the center position of the optical disk when a 1st sensor 34 and a 2nd sensor 35 detect the optical disk, driving an optical disk transfer motor 17 to transfer a spindle motor 11 so that the turntable 12 is positioned below the center of the optical disk, driving a deck transfer motor 20 to lift the deck 19 up to an optical disk mounting position on the turntable 12, driving the optical disk transfer motor 17 to transfer the spindle motor 11 so that the turntable 12 is positioned below the chucking plate 31, and driving a deck transfer motor 20 to lift the deck 19.
