<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a water area purified by a water purification apparatus in a storage reservoir of agricultural water, and the like. <P>SOLUTION: A water treating contact material layer 30 is installed in a boxlike frame body 12 whose top face only is opened. A flexible hose 18 communicating to the lower part of the contact material layer is extended to a corner of the closed water area (the storage reservoir) P. A water level difference between the inside of the contact material layer and the closed water area caused by water spouting from a submersible aeration pump 15 introduces water in the closed water area into the contact material layer 30 through the hose 18. Water is taken in from a corner where water stagnation tends to occur, and then spouted. As the water spouting is carried out in the vicinity of the apparatus, a circulation flow of water moving from the vicinity of the apparatus to the corner is generated, which prevents the water stagnation at the corner. A plurality of water intake holes 18b are formed at required intervals in the lengthwise direction in the hose 18, and the sizes of the water intake holes 18b are gradually increased toward the end, thereby water is uniformly taken over the whole length of the hose 18.
