PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which uses map information whose information amount is reduced. SOLUTION: A server unit 400 which has recognized a travel route search request from a terminal unit 300 over a network 200, recognizes a node of the same co-ordinates, based on a co-ordinate information on nodes representing spots forming a matching data of a map information which the unit 400 stores. The unit 400 determines that a road is in a condition such as an intersection or the like, where link lines different at the same spot cross each other at the same spot if a node flag is "1", based on flag information on the node where co-ordinates are the same, and determines that the road is in a condition such as grade separation or the like, where link lines not the same but different do not cross at that spot if the node flag is "0". The unit 400 recognizes the road condition, sets a travel route from the current position to a destination based on a information acquired from the terminal unit 300, and downloads it along with a map information.
