PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an program information recording device and a program information recording and reproducing apparatus through which a user easily selects a desired program among many programs being supplied by digital broadcasting and enjoys the contents of the program. SOLUTION: A tuner 1 receives music information being supplied by digital broadcasting with genre codes that indicate the genre of the music and beforehand inputs the genre of the music to be recorded by an operating section 8. Only the music information to which a genre code, that matches with the beforehand inputted genre by the section 8, is added is selected among the received music information and the selected music information is recorded on a hard disk device 2.
