PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cartridge in which fall and omission of a cartridge pin caused by drop impacts can be prevented while securing the productivity. SOLUTION: An engaging part 60 in which an upper shell 11 and a lower shell are engaged each other is provided at a position near a cartridge pin 22 as a contact preventing member preventing contact of a periphery part of an opening part 35 and a magnetic tape 20. The engaging part 60 consists of an engaging projection 61 and an engaging hole 62, the length of the engaging projection 62 or clearance between the engaging projection 61 and the engaging hole 62 is set so that a tip of the engaging projection 61 is restrained at an inner wall plane of the engaging hole 62 while the separation quantity of respective shells 11, 12 at an opening part 35 at the time of dropping exceeds the insertion quantity of an end part of the cartridge pin 22 and a concave part 46 of the shell.
