PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packed shape retaining method, which prevents the collapse of the packed shape of a freight having a hollow part, makes the handling of the freight easy, and reduces the cost of transportation or the like drastically. SOLUTION: According to the packed shape retaining method, a contracted air bag 10, which has an air inlet 11 and can be expanded/contracted by putting in or out air, is inserted into the hollow part 1a of the freight, such as a copper roughing coil 1. The air bag 10 is inflated with air within the hollow part 1a of the coil 1, so that the air bag 10 presses the interior of the hollow part outward.
